CzechPolar project (2010 – 2015)

The Ministry of education, youth and sports of the Czech Republic has approved the project „CzechPolar – České polární stanice: Stavba a operační náklady“ ((CzechPolar - Czech polar stations: Construction and logistic expenses) in 2010. The project consists of two rather independent parts: two institutions have joined their efforts in polar research: Masaryk university in Brno and the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The aim of this project is to ensure development of the J. G. Mendel research station on James Ross Island - Antarctica (Masaryk University) and construction of research station in the Arctic - Svalbard (University of South Bohemia). Apart these two principal goals, also  use of the scientific network CESNET and foundation of specialized EEL (Extreme Environmental Laboratory) laboratory in Brno make part of the project. The two participating universities also point their effort to development of regular teaching and education activities in the field of polar science.
